Our social systems are going through incredible change. A new era of communication and transportation is enabling collective actions at unprecedented scales. The world is becoming increasingly connected and at the same time more heterogeneous. The challenges are great and the tools we have historically used to think and act within societies are no longer working.
At NECSI we develop scientific frameworks for understanding societies at the global scale. Our research leads to new methods for solving the world's most important and far-reaching challenges. The New England Complex Systems Institute in Cambridge, MA has been instrumental in the development of complex systems science and its applications. Our research advances fundamental science and its applications to real world problems, including social policy matters.
Join the NECSI team as an Outreach Assistant working to develop, coordinate, and facilitate relationships with key players on the national and global stage. The ideal candidate is either an advanced undergraduate, masters or PhD student or recent degree recipient.

NECSI is seeking a development professional to grow our Directed Research business. The successful candidate will have a proven background in identifying, qualifying, and closing consulting and software deals in the Analytics space in the Government and/or Commercial space. Must be well versed in the Data Analytics and/or Business Intelligence domain as a Business Development or Sales professional.
The goal for the development is to qualify commercial, non-profit, and public sector prospects using a developed B2B sales process involving field, phone, social marketing and email lead generation tactics.

NECSI seeks a science writer able to follow concept-rich scientific material; write clear, concise prose explaining key ideas; edit, revise, and proofread written materials for popular audiences; and compose written content for scholarly papers, the NECSI Web site, and newsletters. The position also involves administrative tasks, correspondence with colleagues and affiliates, and assisting with research projects. This is a full-time position.
Applicants should be reliable, versatile, self-motivated, and willing to challenge themselves. The right candidate will be able to write in a variety of styles and possess strong research abilities. Technical computer skills, especially with Macs, Web site maintenance, and publishing software is desirable. Applicants should have an interest in influencing policy and making a positive social change. A science background is a plus.
