This individual will perform research, teach, and oversee postdoctoral and graduate student researchers in the study of diverse areas of complex systems science and its applications. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, ethnic violence, healthcare, evolution and ecology, economics, engineering, networks, systems biology, multiscale method, management, military conflict, negotiation and global development. The new faculty member will enter a dynamic environment and have the opportunity not only to work on unique research, but to impact national and international policy. The position also involves administrative tasks, correspondence with colleagues and affiliates, and assisting with research projects. This is a full-time position. Applicants should be reliable, versatile, self-motivated, and willing to challenge themselves. The right candidate will be able to write in a variety of styles and possess strong research abilities. Technical computer skills, especially with Macs, Web site maintenance, and publishing software is desirable. Applicants should have an interest in influencing policy and making a positive social change. A science background is a plus. In addition to answering phones, operating office equipment, and organizing documents, the administrative assistant will help manage NECSI's educational programs. This will involve writing announcements for NECSI events, corresponding with participants, arranging accommodations, and coordinating classroom space. Applicants should be reliable, detail oriented, self-motivated, and extremely well organized. The right candidate will possess excellent writing skills and a pleasant demeanor. Applicants should be proficient with common office equipment, including phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. Experience with Macs and office software is highly desirable.
