Multiscale Method: Complexity Profile

To gain a useful understanding of a system's complexity, NECSI researchers have developed the complexity profile, Complex System Multiscale Analysis, and modeling to characterize the emergent behavior of a system at multiple scales. By identifying a system's scales of behavior we can identify its functional capabilities. These capabilities can then be compared to the tasks for which the system is designed, allowing us to determine whether it can achieve its intended goals and, if not, why. Multiscale Analysis proves especially useful in the study of large organizations, such as health care, the military, and corporations.
